2010 will be the third, and easily the biggest, annual Josh Ginns Memorial.

2008

The 2008 memorial was a small affair; we had just a single day to cram everything into so we split it with a morning for businesses and the afternoon for clubs. As this was early days we only had clubs from the region: Leister Cobras, Sheffield Steelers, xxxx

2009

2009 was simply astounding for us – thanks to sponsorship from Nimbus: The Disability Consultancy Service, we were able to split the event over two days. Day one was great, with people who had never touched a basketball let alone whilst sitting in a chair. Great fun was had by everyone, with Disability Direct taking the trophy.

Day 2 was something else: we had a 10am start with a trickle of arrivals at first, then all of a sudden the sports hall was just flooded with players and teams from all over the country. The atmosphere was electric and nothing like you might find at the Championships or Playoffs. The opportunity to play teams you’d never come across – even the GBWBA entered a team (which included Charlie Bethel) was one too good to miss, and the camaraderie off court was unique.

The overwhelming consensus was that this had to be repeated.
